Blog post settings

  1. In the Layout Configuration page, click on the Edit link at the bottom right hand corner of the Blog box. The Configure Blog Posts box will open.
  2. Under Main Page Options, you can select how many posts you want to show up on each page of your main blog page. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PAGINATION SCRIPT REQUIRES THE NUMBER OF PAGES PER POST LISTED HERE MATCHES THE ONE IN THE HTML CODE. The default setting is 7 posts per page. If you want another # of posts to show per page, see the “Change Pagination Settings” section below.
  3. You can also configure your Post page text link with custom text like “Read More” or “Keep Reading”. Make sure you enter your read more text into this box or the read more button will be blank!
  4. There are a number of options under the Post Page Options. This theme DOES NOT have share icons. We recommend selecting to show the Date, Time, Labels, and 5 comments. You can also show Reactions if you desire.
  5. Under the Arrange Items section, you can rearrange some of the post items. We do not recommend doing so as this template has been designed with a certain arrangement in mind and rearranging may lead to layout problems.
  6. Click the Save button to save your new Blog Post settings.

Change Pagination Settings

Our Blogger templates use Numbered Pagination using a small script in the HTML code. The number selected in the Blog Post settings must match the number set in the code. If you choose to change the Number of Posts on Main Page to a number other than 7, you must also change the number in the HTML code for Pagination to work right.

  1. In the Blog Post Settings, set your desired Number of Posts on Main Page.
  2. Navigate to the Theme page on the Blogger Dashboard.
  3. Click on the gray Edit HTML button to open the code editor window.
  4. Left click anywhere in the code editor screen.
  5. Press the [Cntrl] + [F] keys (Command + F on Mac) to open the search bar in the top right corner of the code editor.
  6. Type postperpage=7; into the box and press the [Enter] key.
  7. The search will find this piece of code near the end of the HTML.
  8. Change the 7 to match the number you selected in your Blog Post Settings.
  9. Click the orange Save theme button at the top of the code editor window.

Add “Read More” buttons on Home page

  1. This template does not feature an automatic “Read More” button script. (These scripts can really slow down site loading and are buggy. Besides, not everyone wants this option). By default, your entire posts will show on the home page.
  2. To show only post excerpts on the Home page with the “Read More” link, you will need to insert a Jump Break into the point where you want the “Read More” link to appear.
  3. From your Blogger Dashboard, go into the Post edit screen.
  4. Scroll down to the point where you want to insert your Jump Break and left-click to place your cursor.
  5. In the top Post edit toolbar is a small icon that looks like a piece of torn paper, the “Insert jump break” button. Click this button to insert a jump break.
  6. A dashed line will appear in your post text to show where the jump break has been inserted. This will not affect your post content on the single page, but will create an excerpt post with “Read More” link on your Home page.
  7. Click the orange Update button to update your post or Save for new posts.
